| Resources for Beginning Sewing Skills “Sewing Machine Fun”. This is one of the best books I have ever found in helping kids to sew. It is a great introduction to sewing and has a lot of really things to do that teach how to use the machine. It will make your daughter feel very comfortable with the sewing machine. Plus there are cute sewing projects that are actually useable! All my girls that have used this book enjoyed it very much. I have seen this book at a few fabric stores and on line. I bought mine through Timberdoodle I have not tried much of what is available today, but there seems to be so many neat options to try. Sewing Made Easy Software is a computer programs that give you the ability to print out basic patterns that are your child’s size Home Economics is put out by both Christian LIght and Alfa Omega. This is an extensive home economics courses that will teach in-depth skills for older sewers. Stitches & Pins is also meant for the older beginner. Again check Timberdoodle for these programs Click on Timberdoodle and then in the menu on the left click the arrow and scroll down to “Sewing/Handwork” and ‘Go’ to that page. Also CBD has a nice selection of sewing books as well. I just put sewing into the subject search and found two pages of books. |
