Letís Make Soap!
One very common request I receive is for information on making soap. So after some work and time I now have soap making information and instructions!
Soap making seems intimidating. But after you make your first batch of soap you will wonder what all the fuss was about. AND you will never be able to go back to store bought soap again!
I have been making soap for a few years now. I make lots and lots of soap because I sell it. Not everyone wants to make soap and many are satisfied being able to purchase it. The recipes I will share here are not the ones I use to make my soap but they are good recipes that will make you nice bars of soap!
When I started this project I had the idea that I wanted someone who has never made soap to be able to go into a grocery store and purchase most all of the needed ingredients. That may be the case for many of you but coconut oil (which I use in all my recipes) may not be able to be located by everyone. I have read that Walmart carries it, but could not find it at my Walmart. So it may be in some areas but not everywhere. But you can order it on line and I have given links for places to purchase it.
You will find 2 different variations of recipes for "Crystal's Simple Soap" and both are simple to make and will make you nice bars of soap. I also am sharing a recipe for Oatmeal, Milk and Honey soap and my recipe for the soap I use in making my own laundry detergent.
purchase lye is another question I am often asked. I have a whole page of
information on where you can purchase lye on line.
I wish you all the best of luck with your soap making! It is a fun and rewarding hobby. In the very near future (I am currently working on this project!) I will also be offering a soap making class on CD. If you have seen my Bread Making Class on CD then you will get an idea of what my soap class will be like.
